WELCOME TO FALL !!!!
These wonderful days of
fall are finally here to stay! I am glad it has cooled off and our busiest
time of year is upon us. With the holidays closing in, we will be busy
with family and friends through to the end of the year. Make plans to
bring someone out to shoot during these next few months, if you have
company, and let them see how much fun we have going back in time and
shooting like our ancestors. Until you actually pick up a gun and load it,
fire it, etc, you don’t realize just how precious every shot was to
them. It could mean the difference between living and dying during a hard
winter. It could mean saving yourself and your family from an Indian
attack. We sometimes forget how easy we have things these days compared to
our ancestors. It is so much
fun to shoot black powder, so bring someone new out and introduce them to
our sport. I promise they will be hooked. I truly believe “there are no
strangers at our gun range- only friends we haven’t met yet.”
I would like to address
all who receive your newsletter by email or used to, please let me know if
you suddenly stop getting them. I am not the most computer literate person
in the world and I have been sending the newsletter to the addresses that
I have, some come back and most don’t. I know if they come back that the
address that I have is not valid. If it doesn’t come back, I assume you
are getting it. If not, please let me know. I would like to get an updated
phone list for everyone, so when you are at the Turkey Shoot this weekend,
I am going to get everyone updated.
Make your plans to be
shooting at the Turkey shoot this weekend. It starts Saturday and we
finish up shooting about noon on Sunday. Don’t forget, we have our
brisket dinner Saturday night free for all registered shooters. Just bring
along your favorite covered dish to go with it. You can’t get any better
than that!
We
had a good shoot last month with 19 registered shooters. That’s pretty
good for a monthly shoot. I think everyone was practicing up for this
month.

We shot trap this month and had a great time. Thanks Ken
Adair for pulling for us! We still have our owls in the high house, but
they should be leaving soon. They all have feathers and can fly, so maybe
they will move on to bigger and better things. Here are the results of the
shotgun Sunday:

We
have had several people inquiring about the Shotgun Soiree in April.
The
dates for that are
APRIL 16-19, 2009
PLEASE
SAVE THE DATE!!!!!
We are doing things a
little different this Turkey Shoot. We are giving Renegade medals for
first place and the usual gift cards for second and third. We thought we
would change things up a bit. Hope to see everyone out this Saturday and
Sunday. You will certainly miss a good time.
I will also have T-shirts to sell. We are selling them for
10.00 each, so if you need some spares, this is a good time to get them.
We are limited on sizes, but come and get them. We have L, XL & 2XL.
Our Christmas party will be at Ken & Cathy Matlock’s
house this year. He has graciously offered to have it at his home. Thank
you Ken! We will have the Chinese gift exchange. Ken will cook the meat,
so we all will bring a covered dish like usual.
We will let you know more as it becomes available. The date is
December 13, 2008. Plan on
joining us for this, it should be great fun.
SEE
YOU BRIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY MORNING!!!!
GREAT
SHOOTING EVERYONE!
Don't forget
the Match
Schedule on Events & Schedules.
