The Red River Renegades is another Texas First! It is a
black-powder, muzzle-loading only gun club. It is chartered and
sanctioned by the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA) and
the Texas Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (TMLRA)
The club is located 4 miles east of Electra, Texas.
Heading west on Highway 287 from Wichita Falls, you take the Business
287 exit, continue west until you see ""Old Gun Club
Road"" on the right; turn and it is about ½ mile on the
left. We have a covered firing line, club house, limited electricity but
sorry, no running water as yet. In addition to the 100 yard firing line,
we have a trap range, a skeet range and a sporting clay range.
There are two monthly shoots:
The second Sunday of each month is Shotgun Sunday. We usually shoot
either trap or skeet and occasionally will shoot sporting clays.
The last Sunday of each month is Rifle/Handgun Sunday. We have
aggregates for Bench, Percussion, Flintlock, Musket, Handgun (Pistol and
Revolver), In-Line, Ladies, Juniors and Sub-Juniors.
Gun Safety, marksmanship, sportsmanship and fellowship are stressed.
Red River Renegades believe "There are no strangers at our
gun range ––
Only friends we haven’t met yet."

SCHEDULES page.

| It’s
time for the May Shoot and I hope everyone is making their plans
to be out and have a good time shooting, telling tells of May
Shoots in the past, or just plain old fellowship, I can guarantee
you will have fun! As usual, we need prizes as well as auction items. We have a
few, but we can always count on Renegades coming through when we
need them. Look around and see what you can bring out. In the
past, we have had some pretty interesting auctions. If you don’t
have anything to auction, money is always appreciated. Just
remember, funds we accumulate at the auction go to improvements for
our range. As long as we keep making improvements, we will be able
to draw in more new people. The
only way we can keep our club going, is to bring in new
enthusiastic shooters. We are a dying breed in this new world we
live in, so we need to encourage everyone we know to enjoy our
shooting sport as long as we can. Gun clubs are folding all over
the country because of lack of money and participation, so come
out and support our club!
I would like to remind all aggregate winners from last year who have
traveling trophies to bring them to be awarded to the winners this year. We
will need them for Saturday night.
Beginning
in June, we have new officers taking over for the next year.
Actually, some are new, and some kept their offices from last
year. Our new officers are Dean Moeller- President, Linda
Lollis-Vice President/Secretary, Pat Fowler-Treasurer, Gary
Black-Range Officer, Danny Cantrell-Match Chairman, Roger Fowler
& Roger Don Fowler-Co-Shotgun Chairmen.
I
would like to thank all of our past officers for their work last
year and am looking forward to a new year.
A
NOTE FOR ALL MEMBERS:
At
our June rifle shoot, we are going to vote on a change to our
by-laws to allow an officer to be voted "Renegade of the
Year". In
the past, we have always had plenty of candidates but, lately, the
people who really deserve a chance to receive that honor ARE
officers. The nomination of Renegade of the Year is based on
consistent participation in club activities and functions,
continuous efforts and support on behalf of the club and current
excellence in promoting the objectives of the club. Make sure
you cast a vote on this important issue. |

Since we didn’t shoot
shotgun this month, I just wanted to put in a little blurb about Jack
Sheppard.
He won best-looking cooker at the Electra Goat Barbecue this year.
Congratulations Jack!!!!
If for some reason you
didn’t receive a May Shoot Flyer, you will find our match schedule
for
this weekend on the Schedule &
Events page or click here. Don’t forget to bring your
covered dish for Saturday night. The
auction is also Saturday night and we have a beautiful
Renegade memory
quilt made by Angie Cantrell as well as many other items.
And remember Pat Fowler
will have the snack bar open for beverages and snacks too.
Here
are the winners of last month’s rifle shoot:
